Bioneer said that it will export 5.6 billion won ($4.7 million) worth of Covid-19 diagnostic equipment and kits to Colombia.

Bioneer is a total solution provider for Covid-19 diagnostic testing in Korea. The export items include Bioneer's molecular diagnostic equipment ExiStation, an automated system consisting of nucleic acid extraction equipment and real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) equipment.

“Thanks to the excellent user convenience and high quality and service, the repurchase rate of equipment is very high, and purchases of nucleic acid extraction reagents and diagnostic kits are also rising,” the company said.

According to Bioneer, Colombia is conducting the Covid-19 test using molecular diagnosis with real-time PCR for high-reliability test results. The number of confirmed people has increased to 330,000, and the mortality rate reached 3.4 percent in the Latin American country. The company plans to complete its first batch of exports in July and promptly complete the second batch shortly.

"We are hurrying to start operating its second plant as foreign requests to export our diagnostic equipment, nucleic acid extraction reagents and diagnostic kits have increased due to the second wave of infections for Covid-19," a company official said.

The company expects its sales would continue to increase, as its device can detect up to 40 types of diseases, including Covid-19, the official added.
