T&R Biofab, a three dimensional (3D) bioprinting company, said it has signed a joint research and development agreement for 3D bio-printer application with Seoul National University co-Operative Flexible Transformative FOUNDRY (SOFT FOUNDRY).

T&R Biofab provided its 3D bio-printer, 3DX Printer, for SOFT FOUNDRY early this year. The latter will advise on the use and application of equipment.

T&R Biofab Research Director Jin Song-wan (third from left) and SOFT FOUNDRY Director Nam Ki-tae shake hands after signing a joint R&D agreement of 3D bio-printer application Thursday.

The two organizations agreed on a strategic business alliance for cooperation and joint development of various applied research using 3D bio-printers through mutual exchange, collaboration, and complementation.

SOFT FOUNDRY is a research institute that develops processes and technologies suitable for the future-oriented paradigm through convergence technologies in various fields, including materials, electrical and electronics, mechanical aviation, chemical engineering, chemistry, biotechnology, humanities, and sociology.

“Our R&D accord with SOFT FOUNDRY is expected to strengthen domestic 3D bioprinting technology and further expand the commercialization area,” T&R Biofab CEO Yoon Won-soo said.

SOFT FOUNDRY Director Nam Ki-tae said, “This agreement on research and development will show various future convergence technologies as an opportunity to continue to study processes and technologies in line with convergence research and next-generation paradigms. We will pioneer a sustainable future for emerging platforms via large convergence projects.”
