UBcare, a company specializing in digital healthcare solutions, said Friday that it has acquired a patent for the method and system to monitor suspected patients with infectious diseases.

The technology uses medical institutions’ electronic medical records (EMR) and health authorities’ server simultaneously to detect people suspected of having infectious diseases early, and respond to them.

According to the patent, medical facilities can minimize a disease’s spread by classifying suspected patients based on their entry and exit records and biometric measurements, and immediately send their data to institutions that manage infectious diseases.

When the suspected patients test positive, they will be reclassified as confirmed patients and related institutions can use the technology to identify and manage their close contacts.

The company believes that the patent will improve the ability to control potential infectious diseases returning from abroad through cooperation with relevant bodies.

“We possess the largest number of patents in this industry with a highly efficient research environment and continuous investment in research and development,” UBcare CEO Lee Sang-kyung said. “Medical institutions could use the technology to prevent infectious diseases, such as Covid-19, from spreading widely.”
